Utah Fly Fishing Hall of Fame Nomination

Criteria for Nominees:
“Created in 2016, the Utah Fly Fishing Hall of Fame was built to honor men and women who have made major contributions to fly fishing in Utah. Their contributions have taken many forms from conservation projects, political activism to protect angling resources, environmental projects, formation of organizations such as Trout Unlimited (TU) and Fly Fishers International Chapters to promote fly fishing, enhancing the fishing experience in Utah, promotion of youth fishing education programs, and many other activities. The candidates were nominated by their respective organizations — TU chapter, Bonneville Fly Fishers, or Great Western Fly Fishers. Their selection was made by fly fishers throughout the state.”
Previous inductees are listed on the Utah Council of Trout Unlimited website.
The Process:
The goal for 2025 is to induct three to five individuals. (The typical goal is two per year, though there have been a few hiatus years, including 2024.)
The voting body, responsible for selecting inductees, includes the following groups:
- Current Utah Fly Fishing Hall of Fame inductees (living members).
- Leadership of supporting organizations:
- Trout Unlimited State Council members
- Trout Unlimited chapter leadership
- Fly Fishers International leadership (Bonneville Fly Fishers)
- Utah Anglers Coalition leadership
- Leadership of other fishing organizations, including Backcountry Hunters & Anglers and Utah Women Fly Fishers
(Note: All fishing organizations are included in the process. While some are fly-fishing-focused, others—such as Trout Unlimited—are not exclusively dedicated to fly fishing. However, the Hall of Fame itself is strictly for fly fishing.)
Nomination:
For each nominee complete and submit the Utah Fly Fishing Hall of Fame Nomination Worksheet.
